The role of plastic shredding for recycling

Plastic is one of the most used materials in the world and its derivation comes from oil. As well as the most used, it is the most accumulated in landfills and wasted irregularly in the environment. Considering that it is a very resistant material and that it takes hundreds of years to decompose, its recycling is essential to avoid contamination of the environment.

Plastics are divided into two categories, thermoplastics and thermosets. The first corresponds to 80% of the plastic consumed in the world because they can be molded and, therefore, they are recyclable.

Thermosets cannot be recycled in a common way, since they do not melt when they are under high temperatures. And this is where the plastic crusher and PET bottles come in.

When plastic recycling cannot be carried out for any reason, as in the case of thermosets, the solution is to send it to the crushed plastic. This machine grinds the plastic until it is in small pieces, making it possible to process the material.

Another solution for this material is chemical recycling through the depolymerization process. If there are no more ways to crush the material for it to be recycled, the plastic is sent for energy recovery or incineration, reaching the end of its useful life.
